Visual Communication .

This communication system is inspired by the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), which was initially developed for non-verbal children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). While PECS was specifically designed for children with autism, this program adapts some of its steps into a simplified, fun, and accessible version suitable for all children.

Program Benefits:

For Children with Communication Challenges:

  • This system has proven to be effective for children diagnosed with a range of communication disorders, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Language impairments
  • Auditory processing disorders
  • Down syndrome
  • Hearing impairments
  • ADHD
  • Developmental delays

Precursor to Reading Skills:

  • The program has been a successful precursor for developing reading skills, laying the foundation for literacy.

Enhanced Language Development:

  • This system introduces a variety of language concepts, helping children describe and comment when speaking or answering questions. These concepts are key to fostering communication skills that will later extend to more complex forms of verbal expression.

Support for Augmentative Communication:

  • Children who may be candidates for augmentative communication devices have found success with this basic visual communication system as an introductory tool.

Important Disclosure:

  • Simplified Version of PECS: This program is a simplified version of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and is not a substitute for the in-depth, professional training required to become certified in PECS. While it provides a foundation for early communication development, it does not cover the full scope of PECS training.
  • For Professionals: If you are a professional interested in PECS, I strongly encourage you to pursue the full certification program. It is a valuable investment!

Even children with no difficulties love using these communication books.

Any child would love to learn, colors, numbers and shapes with this program. Some even start reading on their own!

Knowing how to ask for items answering the questions "How many do you want?" and "What color and shape do you need?" at a very early age is the most fun for children that use this system.
